2026 Competitions

The Flute Society of Kentucky would like to invite you to participate in the following competitions to be held as part of the 2026 Flute Festival, March 27-28th, 2026 at Western Kentucky University (Bowling Green, KY).​​​​​​​​

​​​​​​HOW TO ENTER:

​

  1. Submit the Competition Application Form by 11:59 PM EST on DECEMBER 15, 2025.

  2. Submit the Competition Entry Fee by 11:59 PM EST on DECEMBER 15, 2025.

General Information​​

  • Please submit your competition entry as an UNLISTED YouTube Link in your Competition Application Form.

  • Applicants who are invited to compete in the live Round may use the FSK pianist for a fee.

Competition Repertoire

​High School Soloist Competition: Open to flutists in grades 9-12 

  • Recorded Round: KMEA All State Etudes:

    • Karg-Elert, 30 Caprices for Flute, Op. 107; pub. Carl Fischer: #19 Vivacissimo, scintillante

    • Donjon, Offertoire (R. Cavally: 24 Short Concert Pieces for Flute and piano), mm. 9-24. Quarter=72, at m. 17 quarter=63)

  • Final Round (Live): Georges Hue, Fantasie

 

Collegiate Soloist Competition: open to all undergraduate college students 

  • Recorded Round: Adolphus Hailstork, Yuhwa

  • Final Round: Valerie Coleman, Requiem Milonga

 

Young Artist Competition: Open to performers younger than 31 years of age as of March 27th, 2026 

  • Recorded Round: Jovana Damnjanović, Mayka 10 Concert Etudes for Flute, mvts 3 and 10  

  • Final Round (Live): Nina Shekhar, Bedtime Stories (all)​​

Adult Amateur Competition

  • Recorded Round: Debussy, Syrinx

  • Final Round: Francis Poulenc, Sonata for Flute and Piano, Mvts 1 and 2

Competition Rules​

  1. All application fees are non-refundable. The Competition entry fee does not include festival registration.

  2. Competition winners may NOT re-apply to competitions they have won prior, but may compete in a different age group or category.

  3. You must upload your VIDEO recording as an Unlisted YouTube video. Please add your link to the Competition Application Form.

  4. All applications and entry fees are complete and paid in full by the deadlines posted above.

  5. All decisions reached by judges are final.
