How to Enter​

  1. Submit the Competition Application Form by 11:59 PM EST on January 12, 2024

  2. Submit the Competition Entry Fee by 11:59 PM EST on January 12, 2024

General Information​

  • Please submit your competition entry as an UNLISTED YouTube link in your Competition Application Form.

  • Young Artists and Collegiate competitions are one round only (online). Winners are welcome to perform at the 2024 Festival on the Showcase Recital.

REPERTOIRE & DETAILS

JUNIOR SOLOIST COMPETITION
Age Limit: Grade 8 and younger
Entry Fee: $25
Deadline to Submit Application and Entry Fee: Jan. 12th, 2024 (11:59 PM EST) 
Deadline to Submit Video Recording: Jan. 12th, 2024 (11:59 PM EST)

Repertoire:

Recorded Round: Select your own repertoire (age and ability appropriate), with these guidelines:​

  • Must record ONE solo work for flute (Piano accompaniment optional) of a minimum of 3 minutes in length, not exceeding 7 minutes. This work may be multiple movements of a larger piece, but playing time should still be a minimum of 3 minutes, not exceeding 7 minutes.


​Final Round (Live): 

  • Godard, Suite de Trois Morceaux: Allegretto (any edition)

HIGH SCHOOL SOLOIST COMPETITION
Age Limit: Grade 9 - 12
Entry Fee: $25
Deadline to Submit Application and Entry Fee: Jan. 12th, 2024 (11:59 PM EST)

BAROQUE SOLOIST COMPETITION
Age Limit: no age limit​
Entry Fee: $30

Repertoire:
Recorded round:

  •  Must record ONE BAROQUE solo work for flute (Piano accompaniment optional), not to exceed 10 minutes. This work may be multiple movements of a larger piece, but playing time should still not exceed 10 minutes.​

 

Final Round:

  • Partita in A Minor by J.S. Bach (any edition)

    • All movements

    • No repeats

    • Does not need to be performed on a period instrument

2024 Competition Rules

​

  1. All application fees are non-refundable. The Competition entry fee does not include festival registration.

  2. Competition winners may NOT re-apply to competitions they have won prior, but may compete in a different age group or category.

  3. You must upload your VIDEO recording as an Unlisted YouTube video. Please add your link to the Competition Application Form.

  4. All applications and entry fees are complete and paid in full by Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11:59pm EST.

  5. All decisions reached by judges are final.
